How to install your Improvement Inlay:

Loosen the screws (all you need is your drum key) and remove the ring, as well as the mesh head.
Remove the cushion from your bass drum and eliminate all glue residues. Then attach the Improvement Inlay with the self-adhesive side.
Place the mesh head and the ring back on your bass drum and re-tighten the screws.

KD 140 w Drumtec foam inlay

i just purchased the KD 140 kick drum from Drumtec and installed the Drumtec foam inlay. First you have to remove the Roland stock foam inlay that comes with the KD 140, but this only takes a few minutes. My initial observation of the Drumtec inlay is it is bigger and denser than the Roland stock inlay and therefore makes the KD 140 have lower acoustic impact sound/resonance as well as having less bounce. you can actually bury the beater if the head tension is low enough and your settings mask double triggering. In the Roland line i have played the KD 9 and KD 10 for years and right away i can feel that the KD 140 is a significant upgrade in performance, feel, acoustic impact volume, and looks. i added some light cotton batting beside the inlay and there is almost no acoustic impact sound. The KD 140 is one of the best products Roland makes.
